Web Push Support coming to iOS
Apple has released the highly anticipated iOS and iPadOS version 16.4 Beta 1, which includes full support for web push notifications on Safari. This update is exciting news for clients of NotifyAI, a leading provider of browser-based push notification solutions.
Previously, web push notifications were only available on desktops and Android devices. With this latest release, iOS devices, which make up over 55% of the North American mobile device market, will finally be able to fully utilize web push notifications.
Subscribing to Web Push on iOS
Apple’s approach to web push notifications differs slightly from other platforms, as users are required to add the website to their home screen before granting permission for push notifications. However, this process is straightforward and can be completed in just a few taps. Once added to the user’s home screen, websites can request permission for push notifications, just like any other iOS app. Additionally, iOS web push notifications will appear on all connected devices, including Apple Watches.
NotifyAI is pleased to announce that we will be fully supporting iOS Web Push from the day of its release. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your dedicated push expert or send an email to [email protected].
